Encourage Vaccinations
for COVID-19

Please find two public service announcement (PSA) scripts to help encourage uptake of the COVID-19 vaccine in your communities. They can be read or recorded by someone in your community (such as an Elder, a Knowledge Keeper or a health professional) for radio broadcast, they can be modified for print, or used for other community outreach and engagement efforts, as you see fit.

Vaccines are rolling out in Canada, including in various Indigenous communities in every province and territory, and will be available to all those who are recommended to receive them by the end of September.  Indigenous adults are being prioritized for vaccines, as well as those communities and settings with outbreaks and high case numbers.

Widespread immunization presents one of the best options to protect people from COVID-19. You play an important role in helping build vaccine confidence and to continue to encourage public health guidance, including hand washing, mask wearing, avoiding gatherings, and physical distancing.

In addition to the PSAs, if you wish to conduct interviews with Indigenous Services Canada’s regional Medical Health Officers to discuss the vaccine roll-out, please contact the department’s Media Relations team.

If you have any questions, please visit Indigenous Services Canada online, or reach out to the media relations department at any time.
