The Collaborative Process on the Second-Generation Cut-off and Section 10 Voting Thresholds
Indigenous Services Canada has officially launched the Collaborative Process on the Second-Generation Cut-off and Section 10 Voting Thresholds.
As part of the first phase of this Collaborative Process, a rights-holders information-sharing initiative seeks to provide early and ongoing information to First Nation rights-holders to support preparation for consultation on solutions to the second-generation cut-off and section 10 voting thresholds.
A Rights-Holders Information Kit has been developed to support rights-holders’ readiness for consultation events by providing detailed descriptions of the issues. Beginning in February 2024, the kit has been widely distributed by email, mail, and is publicly available online. You will find the information kit accessible online and available for PDF download on this page.
Indigenous Services Canada has also created community-specific data sheets as part of this information-sharing initiative. These data sheets highlight the impact of the second-generation cut-off on each First Nation’s registered population across Canada. To view the community-specific data sheet for your First Nation, visit Open Data.
After reviewing the supporting documents, First Nations are encouraged to self-assess their readiness for consultation events. Is your First Nation ready for consultation on the second-generation cut-off and section 10 voting thresholds? A representative from your community can fill out the Consultation Readiness Declaration Form.
